Sunflower Vegan Cheese

My first attempt at Vegan Cheese! Pretty happy with the result. Most recipes I’ve seen use cashews and I took a gamble using sunflower seeds which has paid off. YUM!


2 cups of sunflower seeds

1 large lemon – zest and juice

1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil

2 teaspoons of organic apple cider vinegar

2 teaspoons of dried herbs

5 cloves of roasted garlic

cracked pepper and salt to taste

1 cup of pepitas

What to do

Soak the sunflower seeds overnight using hot water. In the morning drain and rinse.

Add the sunflower seeds and all other ingredients to a food processor.

Blend until smooth. This takes a little while, I also scrapped down the sides of the processor a few times.

Using wet hands shape the cheese and roll in pepitas and sprinkle with some dried parsley.

Serve with your favourite crackers!
