Old Fashioned Vanilla Ice Cream

There is nothing easier than making home made ice cream! I picked up an Ice Cream Maker from the Op Shop for $9 and it’s a ripper! Before you think about churning icecream remember to plan ahead and have the bowl of the icecream maker in the freezer for at least 24 hours.. mine tends to live in there between batches..

What you need:

2 cups of cream

3/4 cup full cream milk

3/4 cup of caster sugar

2 teaspoon of vanilla essence

pinch of salt

What to do:

Add all of the ingredients to a saucepan and heat on a medium heat until the mixture bubbles slightly.

Turn off the heat and stir with a wooden spoon until the sugar is dissolves. Takes a minute or so. Let it cool to room temperature, I generally pop it in the fridge for a bit to hurry along the process.

Grab your icecream bowl from the freezer and pop it into the churner. Pour in the cream mixture and churn for 20 minutes or to the instructions of your icecream maker. You can churn a little longer if the icecream is not the consistency you are looking for at the end of the 20 minutes. It’s recommended that you freeze your icecream for around 2 -3  hours before serving…. not a chance! Grab a spoon and have a taste test right out of the churning bowl.

If you are like me you will have Vanilla Buttermilk Cupcakes baking and ready to eat with a huge dollop of icecream!

You don’t need the best brand Ice Cream maker! This is an Aldi Brand. The reviews I read were terrible so take no notice of reviews! If you have your ingredients cool enough you will have award winning icecream every time!
